TONI&GUY-Essensuals Shenzhen Longhua Store

Toni&Guy brand was founded in the 1960's in London, England. It is an international high-end hair salon brand and the first foreign hair salon in China. In the 1990's Toni&Guy new generation brand called Essensuals born. In a refreshing update of the traditional black and white marble style AE Architects was selected to create the new concept.

Using pure white space to express and give it artistic feeling, like the atmosphere of an art gallery. We set key areas in the space to highlight art pieces which also works as a fashion background for the young generation and KOL culture.

The shop front quietly enlarged the space by extending the narrow reception area and waiting area to the shopping mall through floor to ceiling glass windows. Behind the sofa area an artistic installation works as background feature and logo wall. Reminding the feeling of a ruin. Golden metal adds a warm tone and red elements appear as an eye-catch point like a painting in an art gallery, making the space deeper and emphasizing the perspective.

The space design and structure work along a horizontal axis, supported by a long film light on the ceiling and a lighter tone of terrazzo stone on the floor. Like a fashion show walking stage.

16 haircut sections divided in 3 areas with different characteristics and mirror style are supported by soft changes on the ceiling shape. slightly curved surfaces with different proportions acting like lamps which not only gives sufficient illumination but also divide the space without the need of walls.

Different art pieces appear in key areas, a large oil painting in the middle of the open hair cut section, the back side of the ruin wall and a mysterious opening in the wall with a mirror inside behaves as perfect background in the art gallery.

The VIP room by contrast use natural rough elements like dark stone in the wall and supporting the table board which produce a high contrast with the golden metal sculpture.

The shampoo area offers a calm low light space to relax and rest while lying in the sofa beds. The ceiling appears like a starred night sky extending the limits of the space with dark glass mirror walls. and a ring lamp that reminds the moon.

Humans instinctively pursue beauty, but young people pursue fashion more. Fashion is beauty and personality, and it is also an element of recurring rates. When encountering an attractive space, they are more willing to stay, take pictures, share, and then get spread. It’s one of the core values of the new concept.

Simplicity, elegance, softness and artistic natural atmosphere comes together with the new generations of Toni&Guy stores by AE Architects.
